MEMBERSHIP AND DONATIONS

350 members of the H.E.L.G.O.-organisation, 120 of whom are godparents, as well as countless donators make our project for child workers in Calcutta/Howrah possible. In addition, the organization also receives regular financial grants from the German consulate in Calcutta as well as from the City Government of Hamburg. However we are always dependent on the support of even more people in order to improve the quality of our work and also to accommodate more children. We hope that we can win you over to support us.

You can convince yourself of our worthiness for sponsorship by clicking on Attestation of Charitable Work of the relevant Inland Revenue Office in Germany or on the Letter of Recommendation from the German General Consul in Calcutta. We would like to emphasise that any donation or members' fees are solely used to 100 per cent for project work in Calcutta/Howrah. This has been made possible due to the fact that all the co-workers in Germany work in an honorary capacity and also because any additional costs such as postage, telephone etc. are covered by an independent group of sponsors. Any donation made to our organisation can be set off against tax up to ten per cent of the taxable income.

All donations are primarily used to cover the daily care of the children. In addition to this we hope to be able to finance the further buildings. (refer to The Future).

Money transfer form with reference to a receipt for the donation: "Donation for H.E.L.G.O. e.V." bank account: Commerzbank Hamburg, Sorting Code 200 400 00, Account number: 4780 888. If requested you will, of course, receive a donation certification for your Inland Revenue Office. Please enter your address on the money transfer order in the field "purpose".

The continuous care of our children, however, necessitates a long term support of our organisation in the form of memberships. By paying at least € 6.50 per month i.e. € 78.- per year you can become a permanent member. (We need € 13.- per month to take care of one child per month). For € 13.- per month you can become a godfather for a child assuming you would like to accompany him or her through a few years of its life. Please read the additional information about being a godfather. The membership can be terminated at the end of a calendar year under observance of one month's notice.
